15 Best Job Seeking Websites & Tools You (Probably) Didn’t Know About

Uber, Airbnb, Google — over the last decade the way we live and work has been completely reimagined and modernized. Yet, when it comes to job seeking, most people are still doing it the “old school” way. 

If you’ve been feeling a bit lost with your job search, manually applying on job boards, messaging strangers in the hopes of “networking,” or asking friends what they think of your resume, this post is for you.

I’ve covered some recommended job search websites and shared some amazing AI-powered resume builders before, but today I’d like to expand your toolkit that little bit further. 

In this guide, I'll introduce you to 15 of the best job seeking websites and job search tools that you probably didn't know about, but definitely should.

Job Search Tools to Get Organized and Automated

One of the keys to having a more efficient job search is getting organized. The more scattered and unorganized your process, the more likely it will be that your job search will feel overwhelming as it drags on and on. There are many great job search websites out there, but here are 3 job search tools I recommend to help you stay organized (and get things a bit more automated).

1. Teal

Have you been looking through a job board, found a great opportunity, but didn't have the time to apply right then and there? Have you ever then completely forgotten about it? I know I’ve been guilty of this. 

On the other end, have you ever applied to so many jobs that you lost track of which ones you applied to? Again, guilty on that one too.

Well you're definitely not alone. But, luckily there’s a really great solution for this now that I’ve personally used and absolutely love. I’ve done a full review of Teal here, but essentially Teal lets you organize your entire job search in one place.

You can save jobs you want to apply to later, track the application dates for each job so you can follow up (here are some LinkedIn follow-up templates to help with that), and also monitor your interview progression.

2. Simplify Jobs

One of the most tedious and time-consuming things about applying to jobs is filling in the same information over and over again. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve skipped applying for a job because it required manual data entry. But, like we’ve talked about before, how many jobs you apply to per day is extremely important to the success of your job search.

Well, starting today you’ll never have to do manual data entry ever again. Simplify Jobs is a great job search tool that will take that burden off of your shoulders by filling out job applications for you (and it's free)! They also have a job application tracker similar to Teal's, but I find Teal's to be better and more user-friendly.

3. Massive

If you're doing your due diligence on each company you're applying to (which I highly recommend), then you're probably using a lot of different sites to find information. If you use one site to search for job openings, another for compensation, and yet another for reviews from other employees, then you’re wasting a lot of time.

Massive takes all that work and brings it all into their amazing job seeking website. Not only do they show you job listings, but they also have company profiles with details about their funding, compensation structures, and even reviews from current and former employees. 

This makes it easy to do your company research and make an informed decision about which companies you'd actually like to work for. Any tool that helps me close some browser tabs is a worthwhile tool in my book.

Job Seeking Websites to Attract Inbound Job Offers

One of the best job search strategies that are overlooked by 99% of job seekers are inbound offers. The truth is that you don't always have to be the one reaching out to companies or scouring through job-seeking websites for job openings. 

Getting recruiters to find you is one of the most effective ways to fast forward your job search. But, this only works if they know you exist and can find you. 

So, here are 4 job search lists you should put your name on to get more exposure and inbound offers:

4. Wiseful Layoff List

As its name suggests, this list is specifically for people who have been laid off. It's very simple. You just add your name and information to the list and Wiseful will take care of the rest. Companies and recruiters use this list to find suitable candidates for their job openings, so it's a great way to get noticed and potentially land your next job opportunity.

I particularly recommend this list because of how regularly it gets updated. They also filter out those who have found jobs, so you know you're getting the maximum exposure and not getting lost in an endless list of names. 

5. AngelList (Now Wellfound)

If you’re looking to work at a startup, then AngelList is the place for you. Not only can you browse job listings and apply directly through the site, but you can also create your own profile to showcase your skills and experience. Most startups use AngelList as their platform for recruiting, so it's definitely worth creating a profile here. 

I’ve had a profile on AngelList for over 8 years and have personally had many companies reach out to me through the site. This is also why they’re on my list of Top 40 Job Search Websites.

6. HiredHippo

HiredHippo takes things one step further than other lists because it actively matches you with companies looking for your specific skill set. 

What's unique about HiredHippo is that they don't accept just any candidates onto their platform. They vet each candidate to ensure they meet a certain standard, making you stand out even more to potential employers (if you make the cut). 

They also move you through the process much faster than some other job-seeking websites. If an employer likes your profile, they’ll ask you for an interview right away, so you don't have to wait around for a response or worry about your resume getting lost in the stack.

7. Brianna Doe’s Job Board

It's not easy to make it onto this exclusive job board, but if you do, you'll have direct access to hiring managers at top companies (and they'll have direct access to you). 

Brianna Doe is an incredible Career Coach and her job board is known for its high-quality job listings and personalized approach to connecting candidates with companies. It's a tight-knit community of top talent and top employers, so if you're looking to work with the best of the best, this is the place to be.

Tools to Improve your Resume

If you've been applying to jobs for at least 2 months and not hearing anything back, chances are your resume may not be up to par. It shocks me that most people still build their resumes the old-fashioned way, using clunky templates where you spend half your time just fixing the formatting.

The truth is that resume tools have come a long way in the last 5 years. If you want to fast forward your job search, these 4 resume tools are must-haves in my opinion:

8. MyPerfectResume

Over the years I’ve reviewed dozens of resume builders. Most of them are okay, some are pretty good, but MyPerfectResume is definitely still my all-time favorite resume builder. 

I like MyPerfectResume because it has great AI suggestions which can help you generate (or improve) your bullet points in minutes. It also helps you think of things you may have forgotten (such as keywords) and suggests ways to improve your resume based on current hiring trends.

I also love that they have a wide variety of templates, including combinational and functional templates — which are great for career changers or people looking to move up in seniority. O, and did I mention that it's free to use? 😊 

9. Resume.io

If you’re not sure what the best practices are for writing a resume, then Resume.io is for you. It’s also on my top 5 resume builder list because it’s by far the most user-friendly resume builder I’ve ever found. The best part is the tool teaches you how to make your resume stand out in the eyes of employers as you build it.

10. JobScan

You've probably heard about the importance of keywords in your resume (if you haven’t, then read this keyword guide). If you’re not sure whether you have the right keywords on your resume, then JobScan is definitely a job search website you should try.

As the name implies, this is a resume scanner that tells you whether your keywords are on target or not. 

Simply upload your resume, copy and paste the job description for a position you're targeting, and voila – it gives you an accuracy score as well as recommendations to improve.

Now, a very important note: While it can be tempting to aim for a 100% match when using this tool, I strongly recommend against trying to get a perfect score. Here are the 4 job-seeking websites that will help you maximize your chances of being that 1 candidate who gets hired.

12. Speeko

Speeko is an amazing AI-powered coaching tool that can help you with shaking off your nerves about the interview process. Speeko will evaluate your delivery, pacing, vocal variety, and more, so you can sound professional (and approachable) during your interview. If you’ve struggled with moving through certain stages of the interview process, this tool is your answer. 

Scott Metcalf, the Director of Careers at the University of Chicago, was the first to recommend Speeko to me, which says a lot about the quality of this interview practice tool.

13. Try It On

According to a study by Princeton, humans make a judgment about the person they’re meeting in less than one second. Believe it or not, a recruiter makes a judgment about you before they even meet you. How so? 

Your LinkedIn is actually your first impression when it comes to your job search. If your LinkedIn profile photo isn't professional, then you may be losing the battle before you’ve even entered the arena.

14. Perplexity.ai

This is a tool recommended by Reno Perry, founder of Wiseful (remember the Wiseful Layoff List?). Perplexity is the best job seeking website to use before the interview. It can help streamline everything while you’re researching the company, its products, its news, and anything else you need. As I’ve talked about before, there is such a thing as researching a company too MUCH.

Perplexity solves that problem. Consider Perplexity your AI research assistant. Simply tell it what company you're interviewing at and what information you want to know, and it will provide you with relevant and up-to-date information in seconds. This way, you can confidently walk into any interview knowing that you have all the intel you need to stand out.
